Hands clasped together and down on our knees, we've
all got prayer problems and you've sent in these... |

Prayed and Prejudice
Dear Sandy,
Being a Christian, and also in a wheelchair,
I'm forever getting into scrapes. My local vicar,
Steven, tells me that God can only hear your prayers
if you're kneeling on a red cushion. Problem is,
I don't have any knees. I've been praying for a
set (and legs and feet) for eighteen years and only
now do I find out that I may as just have been shouting
down a well. Sandy, is what Rev Steven says true
or should I "keep on keeping on?" Gareth,
Nuneaton Gareth
- Tell me about it! You're caught, stranded and
panting, in the headlights of ecclesiastical ignorance.
As a Danish lesbian I've suffered for years at
the hands of straight, non-Danish Christian fools.
Take a big leaf from my book and pray anyway.
You never know who's listening! |

Should
I pray or should I go?
Dear Sandy,
Being a Christian, and a woman, I often find
myself in pickles. Jesus' love usually sees me
through, but this one's got both of us stumped!
My two best friends are going to Alton Towers
this weekend and have asked me along for the ride(s!).
Problem is, my uncle Johnny is riddled with cancer
and only has a couple of weeks to live. My mum
wants me to stay at home this weekend to pray
for his recovery and/or the peace of his eternal
soul. I don't know which to do - please help!
Donna, Sevenoaks
Donna - I feel for you!
You're straddling the horns of a huge dilemma
here. On the one hand, if you go there will be
trouble (with your mum!) but if you pray it could
be double (both your friends will be upset). Take
my advice and compromise. Take your fading uncle
to Alton Towers and give him a day out he'll remember
for the rest of his day(s).
xx Sandy
