in panto shocker.
One famous Radio 2 disc-jockey
will rock down a storm up north this Christmas
as he slips into his role as third ugly
sister in the local production of Cinderella
in a cold town up there in England's famous
north.
Charitable big-boss BBC-ers
have let him have time out over the yuletide
logging period from his morning radio show
to concentrate on this his first role in
panto since it was invented by Christopher
Biggins in 1872.
Taking on the part
with gusto he will be dressing up as a grotesque
lady complete with a huge hairpiece, and
be wheeled on each night in a comedy cart.
"Ever since I was
little I dreamed of being a bigun in the
medium of Biggins, coming on stage in Wigan
in a wagon with a wig on," said Wogan.
Fox out.
Oh
yes it was!
The famous
panto call and response of originated in
1903 when Tommy Owen (playing Widow Twankey)
had an argument with his wife, who was in
the audience, about whether he had done
the washing up or not. |
