By Beak Street’s resident birdman Chiltern Scarp.

Stars in their Eyries.

For many years now farmers have been the only people to keep wild birds, usually in the form of chickens, geese and the ducks. But the latest fashion amongst Hollywood's jaunty jet-set is to be seen out and about with some of our feathered friends - because birds are the new dogs it would seem, since last week.

Big namers first seen strutting their stuffs with chirping birds as pets include non-funny funnyman Gary Wilmot spotted out shopping with a pet gillimot at Walmart. Then on Tuesday Graham Norton was spotted (by Bill Oddie) driving round Beak Street with a gaggle of swan-queers in the back of his pink Limo.

Now it seems that everyone who is at it is at it. Shame-mouthed smug faced Angus Deyton recently caused some heads to turn as he showed off his hundred strong flock of seagulls at The Ivy, and clever-headed erstwhile newscaster Jan Leeming is rumoured to have bought all the pigeons in Trafalgar Square, for a song.

Celebrity Questionnaire

Last year, when asked the question: "Do you know who puffins are?" 7 out of 10 celebs answered “NO”.

Now 5 out of 12 of them says “YES we think we do now.”
