Short drinks Long Island
Iced Teas and KD Lang likes her
drinks short. “You’re
a tall drink of water” Clint Eastwood
has said but what does he mean? He means
he’s mean, but surely a tall drink
of water is more generous than a short
stubby one - or is it? Depends who’s
drinking it. |
|
Short drinks come in squat
glasses and are gone more quicker,
for example whisky mac, vodka cardigan
or a Baileys.
Long drinks are in a high
balls with lots of room for ice and
booze and you'll need a straw if you
want the stuff at the bottom. So what’s
the king of all drinks – a short
or a long?
Long has the debate raged
and short have been the fuses
that lit them but to add to that these
conundrums of: what is double or
quits? Should it be on some rocks
or not? Well relax up: Idiotica
is here to answer some of these questions
and there’s no need to listen.

“Quits”
is when you’ve had too many
shorts and longs, and
joined an AA because you like them
too much. Double is when your friends
begin to see twice as many eyes as
you have got with you and why it is
best, for many, to drink alone. And
rocks is what you put in your drinks
to check volume. Anything that spills
out on the table, lick that up, and
that’s exactly how loud the
rocks are. |

drink is too long |

As for shorts vs longs, don't choose,
you can have of them both. Just make sure it you're
wearing a correct length of trouser or face while
you sup. |
