There’s little Bill Oddie enjoys more than looking up at a full moon. While cooking up a full spoon. The doleful tranquillity! The dizzying perspective it gives Bill Oddie! It’s hard to beat – which is why I find myself doing it more and more.		  
Nothing comforts me more than clapping my eyes on a big flock of heron. While cupping my hands round a big bag of heroin. Bill Oddie is not a superstitious man but moments such as these strike Bill Oddie as sure signs he is going to have a super day.

Oh the incomparable pleasure of finding and putting up a new weather vane down at Oddie farms! What can possibly be better? I’m excluding of course getting up a new vein on the Oddie arms, after which I couldn’t give one hoot which way the wind is blowing. 		 
There’s truly nothing Bill Oddie likes more than tracing the family tree. Especially while chasing the dragon. Since my appearance on the BBC’s ‘Who is it who that you think you is?” programme in 2005 I’ve been nothing short of hooked!

Few things bring me greater pleasure than coming back from the public library with an armful of Old Norse. With the notable exception of coming back from the dealers with an armful of new horse. It’s under the weight of such spoils Bill Oddie can oft be spied (by eagle-eyed fellow twitchers!) flapping and puffin his way home to spread it all out on his hand-made kitchen bird table, and immerse himself in a world of words, birds and the absurd. For instance did you know these vital lexical building blocks come from Old Norse? EGG, GLOVE, WING, SLEUTH, GEAR, SCORE, ACHE and WANT .
